Asteroid to hit earth this month?
Asteroid 2014 JO25 will cruise by our planet on April 19, 2017 at a relatively safe distance of roughly 1.1 million miles.
That distance, while relatively comfortable, is still pretty close, especially when you really thin of how large the rock actually is. But there is nothing to worry about as NASA says you can relax, the end of the world isn’t here yet.
For a few nights following April 19th, amateur astronomers may be able to catch a glimpse of 2014 JO25 as the asteroid will approach Earth from the direction of the sun and will become visible in the night sky.
Asteroids have hit Earth many times. Although It’s hard to get an exact count because erosion has wiped away much of the evidence. However this particular asteroid isn’t expected to come this close to our planet again for another 500 years or more.
